It was Great While We had It

Just when I thought that our lives were pretty quiet and not much going on hubby has to go and wreck his truck. It has been two weeks today but how one moment in time can change your life. I got a call on the 5th around 11 pm that my husband was in a car accident, it was serious but he was ok. The guy then asked me if I was coming down to the hospital...umm no I think I will go back to bed....yes I am coming down as fast as I can get there. I had to call my friend to watch the kids, but she didn't want me to go the hospital by myself so I brought the kids over there and her hubby watched them so she could come with me. We get to the hospital's ER and they tell me that he is in surgery.....what??....I almost fell over. So the nurse took us back to the or waiting room and said that he had hit a bridge abumment and that he has a bump on his head and some internal bleeding, but nothing really serious. Umm hello!!! my husband is in surgery that is serious to me. So of course I had to call his boat and everyone else I needed to notify. The doctor finally came in a couple of hours later and said that they had to take him to surgery right away because he severed his artery to his small intestine and half of his blood was in his belly. They had to take some of his intestine out and fix his liver. The "bump" on his head was a big gash that ran from his forehead to the top of his head. Finally I get to see him and he looked so scary with all those tubes and stuff in him. We also found out that he broke his left ankle and his big toe on the right foot. But he is alive Thank God.

Well now he is home and healing nicely. The gash on his head is healing he will have some nice scars though. He is still in a cast, but he won't need surgery on his ankle. We finally got to see the truck a few days ago. I cried when I saw it. The whole front end was smashed in and you could see where he hit the windshield. The steering wheel was squashed into a football shape. It was awful. He had hit a low cement wall head on going about 50mph. The insurance paid off our loan on it and got some money out of it too. But I really miss our truck. I felt like we should've had a funeral for the poor thing. Well that has been my life for the past two weeks. Things are getting back to normal. We don't know when he goes back to work and all but we are getting there.
